My Journey as an Artist
This chronicles of success foretold is a story of my journey of being a successful artist following the path that my heart is following. Although this is a path that not everyone in my world will follow, this path is filled with overflowing passion and dedication that my heart and my god-given gift will continue to follow no matter how big and hard the obstacles that I will encounter.
Having to start dancing at a young age, my ultimate goal is to become a ballet dancer and to perform in different places around the world. Being able to perform ballet and other genres give me satisfaction and joy to make me want to pursue dance as a career rather than a hobby or a “phase” as one would call it.
In three to five years, I will be joining one of the most respectable Dance Companies here in the Philippines, Named the Alice Reyes Dance Company. I will be training with the most adored and respected ballet dancers and artists in the country. I will practice and train hard to be better and to achieve my dream to dance side by side with the artists that I idolize. I will later be invited to join their showcase, performances, and repertoires that will be very successful as a result of having talented, hard working, and respectable dancers and artists working together. Then, I will be offered a contract stating a request of being a permanent member under their company. I will then start to join company classes and start making choreographies and repertoires that will be used for future showcases and performances.
A few months later, I will be joining the company and join them in their international tours. We will be performing in different venues around the world. We will be watched by so many people in the area and will applaud us for a very beautiful performance. We will then be featured in articles, and newspapers, and will later get interviewed by the local media and hopefully get invited to collaborate with international artists.
Months after, I will be promoted and become a principal dancer, choreographer and hopefully get to teach class to the younger batches. I will then start to present choreographies and performance samples to the board and to the artistic director hoping to get the show approved. Then, I will start directing the show and turn it into a performance that I envision. It will then be presented to different theatres in the country and was given positive feedback by the critics. The show will then become one of the most successful shows that was performed in the country.
Years after, my name will be recognized not only in the Philippines but also internationally. They will invite me to join their company as a guest artist that will perform and choreograph dance pieces for the biggest performance of the season. They will then showcase my choreography in different theatres and venues internationally. Introducing me as the main choreographer of the piece.
Once my time as a guest artist is over, and I established my name in the dance world, I will return to the Philippines to continue being a principal dancer in ARDP and a top choreographer in the Philippines. Dancers will choose me to choreograph pieces for competitions and auditions. I will continue to create masterpieces to maintain the name that I dreamed of having. Until I retire as a dancer.
Once I retire being a dancer, I will still be a choreographer and will still choreograph pieces for shows and competitions. I will start teaching young people that want to dance but do not have the privilege to do so. I will create a foundation that supports the Arts and help young people reach their dreams of becoming an Artist, like me.
This story is a reminder of my dream. It is to remember why I started and why I kept going. This story will be a reminder when I am slowly slipping away from the path that I want to take. I will read this when I'm losing hope and motivation to move forward with the dream that I know will change the World of Dance.
